Soon my husband and I will celebrate our first wedding anniversary. They say time flies when you are having fun and growing together. Indeed! Our first year marriage has been a beautiful journey and I’m forever grateful for it. We love, challenge, fight, grow, and support each other.

When I look back to my wedding day, it was truly the happiest day of my life. It was the day God fulfilled His promises, the day He made everything beautiful in His time. “Finally”, kalau kata my dearest friends yang datang ke wedding.

Everyone’s love story is different and mine is a long-winded one. I experienced a couple of failed relationships and one failed engagement in 2017. The last one left the biggest scar because my ex-fiancé cancelled the wedding just two months before. I was deeply heartbroken and devastated.

God’s timing is often a mystery. He doesn’t do things on our timetable. Yet His word promises that He will not be late, not one single day. Habakkuk 2:3 “But these things I plan won’t happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day!”

Berat bagiku untuk bangkit dari tragedi yang aku alami di 2017 but with the grace of God, it was made possible! Dari 2017 sampai 2020, aku banyak berbenah diri dan mendekatkan diri sama Tuhan. I rebuilt my confidence, be more consistent in my relationship with God, use my gifts to serve God faithfully. I embrace my singleness and found contentment.

Every process I went through has made me more mature, solid, and well-grounded. All of this helped when I’m back to being a relationship in 2021. Aku sudah selesaikan semua luka masa laluku jadi ga bawa unfinished business to my new relationship. A nice clean start 🙂

I’m not worthy to give marriage advice secara masih bayi usia pernikahannya but my message to all the single ladies and gents: know that you are worthy, you were fearfully and wonderfully made in God’s image. Never lower your standard, never settle for second best. Embrace your singleness and live it to the fullest for God’s glory.

God bless. (AS)
