The past week was challenging for me. While nothing too serious occurred, I struggled to re-establish a continuous learning routine and lost the motivation to wake up at 5 for studying or preparation before work.

One morning, my husband shared to me that he just read an article about “burnout”, a term I was familiar with but had associated more with work-related stress. Though I had not been working overtime frequently since moving to Perth, I humbled myself and listened to the podcast he shared. Deep down, I acknowledged a subtle burnout.

During our conversation after work, I brought to light the factors that may contribute to my sense of burnout. My husband provided insights that reminded me of the biblical verse from James 5: 7-8 “Be patient, therefore, beloved, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious crop from the earth, being patient with it until it receives the early and the late rains. You also must be patient. Strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near.”

Through this story, I would like to offer three things: the importance of understanding our condition, bringing these issues to light, and having faith in divine timing. As St. Teresa of Avila once said, ‘We can only learn to know ourselves and do what we can – namely, surrender our will and fulfill God’s will in us.’

Have a blessed day. (LGA)
